STEPS TO PRAY AND SING THE DIVINE MERCY CHAPLET IN MOTION
Hi! My name is Mary Ann Renna.
Thank you for your interest in the Divine Mercy Chaplet in Motion. My family and I have been blessed to compose the melody and reverent hand motions that engage children in actively praying the words of the Divine Mercy Chaplet.
We are humbled and grateful to the Lord and Pat Polachek, O.F.S., co-founder of the Foundation of Jesus The Divine Mercy, for making it possible for Faith-filled adults all over the world, adults just like you, to see how easy it is to teach our young children this extremely powerful prayer in motion. Often, when the children learn it, they share it with all of their family members. These graces continue to flow from families to communities, and to all nations all over the world. We know how powerful the prayers of our innocent children are before the Throne of God!
To teach children to pray, and especially to say or sing the Divine Mercy Chaplet, is one of the most important things we can do at this time. Remember that Jesus told St. Faustina on the 6th Day of the Divine Mercy Novena:
Today bring to me the meek and humble souls and the souls of little children, and immerse them in My mercy. These souls most closely resemble My Heart. They strengthened Me during My bitter agony. I saw them as earthly Angels, who would keep vigil at My altars. I pour out upon them whole torrents of grace. Only the humble soul is able to receive My grace. I favor humble souls with My confidence. (Diary 1220)
We are so glad you are looking into the process of teaching the Divine Mercy Chaplet in Motion to a group of these earthly Angels, whether that is in your Church, school, your choir, or anywhere. The Divine Mercy Chaplet in Motion is ideal for young children, preschool age to about fourth grade. It is very easy to do and, hopefully, these steps will help you in your planning and delivery.
Step 1 – PRAY
Ask the Holy Spirit to show you God’s Will, to lead you through the entire process, to open up the hearts of others to come forward to help you, and for everyone involved to be able to see the importance of teaching the Divine Mercy Chaplet to others, especially to our children!
Step 2 – DECIDE IF YOUR MUSIC WILL BE LIVE OR FROM THE RECORDING
In other words, you need to decide if the music for the Chaplet will be played and sung with live musicians and singers, such as a choir or cantor to lead everyone, or if it will be played from the CD or download of Kids Sing Divine Mercy Chaplet (Original Version) by the Rennas. If you have a pianist or guitarist, there is Kids Sing Divine Mercy Chaplet Sheet Music by the Rennas, available for you, as well.
The Opening Prayers of the Chaplet, which are the Our Father, the Hail Mary, and the Apostles’ Creed, may be spoken or sung.
If you decide that you would like them to be sung, there are two sets of links for these three prayers:
Recordings of the Opening Prayers of the Chaplet:
Separate audio-only versions of the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Apostles’ Creed, taken from Kids Sing Divine Mercy by the Rennas, are easily available for your use.
Lead Sheets (Lyrics & Guitar Chords) of the Opening Prayers of the Chaplet:
For musicians playing live, individual downloadable Our Father, Hail Mary, and Apostles’ Creed Lead Sheet PDFs, which coordinate with Kids Sing Divine Mercy by the Rennas, also are readily available.
If you will be using the recording, make sure you have a sound person familiar with the sound system who will be able to play it for you in the Church or the room you’ll be using, so that it’s loud enough for everyone to hear it.
Step 3 – INTRODUCE DIVINE MERCY TO THE CHILDREN
It is important for the children to know how this incredible Chaplet of the Divine Mercy started. An easy way to introduce them to it is to show them the short 13-minute Divine Mercy Chaplet for Kids, often shown on EWTN, which will introduce them to St. Faustina and how she obtained the Chaplet from Jesus.
Step 4 - INTRODUCE THE WORLD MISSION ROSARY.
Step 5 – INTRODUCE THE DIVINE MERCY CHAPLET IN MOTION TO THE CHILDREN
Show the children The Divine Mercy Chaplet in Motion Instructional Video with Mary Ann Renna. This is where they will hear the music and learn the motions step by step.
Step 6 - PRACTICE THE DIVINE MERCY CHAPLET IN MOTION WITH THE CHILDREN
Parents and teachers may practice a few times with them to help them to become familiar with it. Of course, live musicians and singers would need to practice more to be able to lead. The music of the Kids Sing Divine Mercy Chaplet (Original Version) by the Rennas is intentionally easy to play and learn.
A few volunteers (either adults or children) who wish to be in the front to help lead the Chaplet in Motion, will be most helpful for the children to follow.
There’s a short clip from Holy Trinity School in Pennsylvania showing how children were placed to lead the school in the Chaplet. This footage is also shown in the EWTN Global Divine Mercy Chaplet which is often shown within the EWTN Global Divine Mercy Chaplet Version 1 and also within the EWTN Global Divine Mercy Chaplet Version 2.
We have done our best to make sure that all the basics you need to know to create a beautiful and prayerful atmosphere for children to learn and sing The Divine Mercy Chaplet in Motion are presented in the Facilitator Guide.
There you have it! We pray that you will be greatly blessed for stepping out in Faith and teaching to others, especially the youngsters entrusted to your care, this most important and powerful prayer that Jesus Christ Himself taught us through our beloved St. Faustina!

Optional Opening Prayer to The Divine Mercy Chaplet
"You expired, Jesus, but the source of Life gushed forth for souls, and the Ocean of Mercy opened up for the whole world. O Fount of Life, unfathomable Divine Mercy, envelop the whole world and empty Yourself out upon us. O Blood and Water which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a Fount of Mercy for us, I trust in You." (say 3 times).Join the "Young Eucharistic Missionaries of Jesus and Mary" (YEMJM) at Saint Joseph Catholic Parish Dingras, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, as they engage in battle. Their weapon is the WORLD MISSION ROSARY, inspired by Ven. Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen. They PRAY in EUCHARISTIC ADORATION. We CONTINUE to PRAY and FAST for the WHOLE WORLD! As we unite to PRAY the Chaplet of The Divine Mercy in the Eucharistic Presence of Jesus, we are grateful for God’s blessings to St. Faustina to give us The Divine Mercy Image, the Chaplet, and the Feast of Mercy, to Ven. Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen, thank you for giving us the World Mission Rosary.
Forming Missionary Disciples!
“I encourage educators to cultivate in little ones the missionary spirit, so that there may arise from among them witnesses of the tenderness of God and announcers of his love.”

Divine Mercy Novena —
6th Day
Today bring to me the meek and humble souls and the souls of little children, and immerse them in My mercy.
Most Merciful Jesus, You yourself have said, “Learn from Me for I am meek and humble of heart.” Receive into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart all meek and humble souls and the souls of little children. These souls send all heaven into ecstasy and they are the heavenly Father’s favorites. They are a sweet-smelling bouquet before the throne of God; God Himself takes delight in their fragrance. These souls have a permanent abode in Your Most Compassionate Heart, O Jesus, and they unceasingly sing out a hymn of love and mercy. (Diary 1221)
A truly gentle and humble soul
Already here on earth the air of paradise breathes,
And in the fragrance of her humble heart
The Creator Himself delights. (Diary 1222)
Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon meek and humble souls, and upon the souls of little children who are enfolded in the abode which is the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. These souls bear the closest resemblance to Your Son. Their fragrance rises from the earth and reaches Your very throne. Father of mercy and of all goodness, I beg You by the love You bear these souls and by the delight You take in them: Bless the whole world, that all souls together may sing out the praises of Your mercy for endless ages. Amen. (Diary 1223)

GATHER THE CHILDREN INTO HIS PRESENCE
Saint Faustina’s vision of Children and Jesus in the Chapel…
765 “On one occasion, I saw the convent of the new congregation. As I walked about, inspecting everything, I suddenly saw a crowd of children who seemed to be no older than five to eleven years of age. When they saw me they surrounded me and began to cry out, “Defend us from evil,” (179) and they led me into the chapel which was in this convent. When I entered the chapel, I saw the distressful Lord Jesus. Jesus looked at me graciously and said that He was gravely offended by children: You are to defend them from evil. “From that moment, I have been praying for children, but I feel that prayer alone is not enough.“ We believe that Jesus desired to bring these little ones before Him!“
